On the last day of the Indo-German Urban Mela, we are happy to present the internationally famous MMA Choir. It will be a great musical finale by the choir of the Madras Musical Association under its conductor Augustine Paul.

Under the slogan "So long! Farewell! Auf Wiedersehen! Goodbye!" the MMA choir, founded in 1839, will match the mood of nostalgia on the last day of the Mela. The 70-member strong MMA Choir will make you sway to the tunes of the Beatles, Abba, Queen and many others, concluding with a special song in German. And a surprise number! Come, look back in laughter and sing along.

The 117 year-old Madras Musical Association’s sole purpose is to perform and propagate western music in the city of Chennai in particular and in India as a whole. The MMA Choir has a wide array of music ranging from Classical, Gospel, Jazz, Country and Western, World music and pop.

The nucleus of the Association is its choir, which has not only performed all over India but also on several international stages. The most recent feather in their cap has been the participation of 22 members of the MMA Choir at the pre-Olympic celebrations in July 2012 in London under the leadership of Dr. Ravi Santosham. This was the second outing for the MMA at an Olympics after Australia 12 years ago.

Besides their incredible success, the members of the MMA Choir are also socially active. They have raised funds by way of concerts for the "World Vision" (Tsunami relief), "Leprosy mission trust of India", "Little sisters of the poor" (home for the aged), Asthma foundation of India and for social projects of the Hindustan Bible institute.
