To celebrate 60 years of successful Indo-German diplomatic relations, Germany and India are hosting a collaborative festivity called “Germany and India 2011-2012: Infinite Opportunities”. The main focus of the celebration is the ‘Indo-German Urban Mela’ that looks at the implications of rapid urbanization in today’s megacities. Therefore a set of modern multi-purpose pavilions will be set up for ten days in five different cities in India, including Delhi which will be the second to last destination.

As one of the city partners of the Indo-German Urban Mela, DHL presents itself in a pavilion as an innovative and reliable partner to solve challenges posed by the pace of change in urban living.

In the DHL pavilion, interactive pillars and exhibits give visitors an impression of DHL’s network in India and around the world: With a digital exhibit following a shipment in India, an informative short film about an Urban Freight Center and an interactive game with the DHL Smart Truck, DHL shows how it can minimize its most significant impact on the environment – emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2).

Through its environmental protection program, GoGreen, the company is committed to improving the carbon efficiency of its own operations and those of the transportation subcontractors. These efforts will also help to improve the quality of life in megacities.

Another pillar in the DHL pavilion covers the topic GoTeach. This Deutsche Post DHL initiative deals with one of the most important issues for personal and economic development, employment and prosperity: education. Deutsche Post DHL, one of the world’s largest private employers, is living up to its responsibility and promotes a high-quality education for every child.

DHL offers visitors to the exhibition an impressive overview of its one-of-a-kind portfolio of logistics and services. About 470,000 employees in more than 220 countries and territories form a global network focused on service, quality and sustainability. With programs in the areas of environmental protection, disaster management and education, Deutsche Post DHL aims to achieve a balance between economic, environmental and social interests. The DHL brand in India encompasses DHL Global Forwarding, DHL Express, Blue Dart and DHL Supply Chain – four major players in the domestic and international logistics space.  Together they offer expertise in international and domestic express, air and ocean freight, customs brokerage, overland transport and contract logistics solutions.

Through its pavilion, DHL shows how it is helping to shape our common future.
