Delhi audiovisual collective BLOT and Berlin-based dub electronica act Jahcoozi will showcase a joint performance that features tracks in German, and see influences from contemporary Germany and India. The show will include several techno and dubstep collaborations, in addition to performances from leading live acts from Delhi
BLOT is an acronym for Basic Love of Things, a multi-disciplinary project helmed by Gaurav Malaker and Avinash Kumar and supported by a network of artists; they are India’s original and leading audiovisual live act. BLOT places emphasis on creating a typical clubland experiences blending sound and music, while manipulating their performance spaces to expand the frontiers of electronica performances.
Visually, BLOT employ traditional filmmaking techniques as well as stop motion animation and motion graphics. The duos diversity is as apparent in their music as it is in their visuals.
A poly-rhythmic paradise to be poured into the ears, Jahcoozi’s music is as original as the phonetic imagination of their name. Hailing from the Berlin club scene and its international cohorts in the pre-Internet era of the early noughties, this bass-heavy electronica trio is a creative alliance made up of London-born, Sri Lankan songwriter and front woman Sasha Perera and two beat-freak producers/multi-instrumentalists — Teuton Robot Koch and Tel-Aviv born Oren Gerlitz.
Jahcoozi’s live shows come armed with an arsenal of remixes/versions/bootlegs of their own songs as well as other unreleased material they have made purely for the love and fun of ripping up the dance floor. The versatility of their music and the sheer energy of their live performance have led the band on an unrelenting trail across five continents, playing everywhere from festivals to clubs, raves, squats, galleries, and even impromtu Boombox parties in a Berlin underpass.
