Asad Khan is a contemporary sitar maestro from Mewati Gharana. His musical skill was passed onto him by his father Ustad Siraj Khan and his great grandfather Ustad Ghulam Qadir Khan. His musical lineage enables him to take on any form of music, whether it is exploring classical raga or collaborating with composers like A.R Rahman or the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

In addition to performing solo concerts, Asad Khan has shared the stage with famous international artists, musicians, orchestras and music producers such as Herbie Hancock, India Arie, Barry Manilow, Colbie Caillat, Jamiroquai and the Norwegian Radio Orchestra.

As a sitar player, he thrives on challenges, loves to crossover between Indian music and a variety of genres including jazz, flamenco, western classical, electronica, rock, lounge fusion, Sufi, folk, thematic music to film scores; constantly thriving to push the boundaries of what is possible with the sitar as well as his audiences expectations.

From displaying the profundity of Indian raga framework, a truly remarkable style of gayaki ang (a vocal-style), to working with world renowned musicians from a range of traditions, and creating innovative music that appeals to his generation as well as to his illustrious family music, Asad Khan is truly a new-age world musician.

Most recently, Asad performed at the Classic Incantation tour with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg held in India and Potsdam Germany.

At the Indo-German Urban Mela, Asad will be performing with the ‘Fusion Messengers’ who regularly play for A.R Rahman world tours and play for many other jazz and world music festivals across the globe.
