A collaborative dance piece created by German dancer and choreographer Felix Bürkle and Indian dancer Hema Sundari Vellaluru during a six month residency in Mumbai.
Starting Point #3 begins with the encounter of two people, a real encounter in a given space that just happens to be a stage, a public space. Based on improvisation, the dancers create movement as a means of communication.
The emotional state that they find each other in has a direct influence on their movement. The performance highlights moments of intimacy, of struggle, being accepted, being repelled, being protected, being exposed. Starting Point #3 explores the duality of two beings that meet each other and are confronted with the fact that they are different although they share something in common.
The performance is an open process that gives space to the unexpected in an atmosphere that is strong yet fragile, intimate and vulnerable. Starting Point #3 is dedicated to Carlos Orta 1944-2004.
