Deepak Kurki Shivaswamy's movement installation 'UnderContraction' depicts the intricate, confused and rapid urbanisation of the city. The piece vividly captures the mad need to build, demolish and re-imagine the city, exploring how people, workers and individuals are caught in this mayhem; a maze of bricks, bridges, construction sites and dust.

Dancers interact with the architectural structure of different urban spaces using air masks, construction helmets and newspapers to create images of a city under construction. UnderContraction aims to create moving images with bodies that reflect the current imagination of the city and the challenging landscape of a developing city.
